Parish Controller

Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church seeks a skilled, detail-oriented Parish Controller to manage the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting that support our parish's mission and stewardship. This is a hands-on role combining bookkeeping (accounts payable and receivable, payroll, journal entries, and reconciliations), with controller-level responsibility for monthly financial statements, budgeting, internal controls, audit, tax, and treasury. Working closely with the Director of Parish Operations, you'll ensure accurate records, strong internal controls, and timely financial information across the parish and its programs. We're looking for a practicing Catholic with a strong accounting background, ideally a bachelor's degree in accounting and five to seven years of relevant experience, thorough knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, GAAP, and proficiency with Excel and computerized accounting software.

The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and a high degree of accuracy and integrity. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

Director of Little Lions ELC and Nursery

The Director of the Little Lions Early Learning Center leads the parish’s ministry to families with young children as St. Mark the Evangelist expands its Mother’s Day Out program into a full Early Learning Center. The Director serves as a champion of the parish’s outreach and presence in the greater Birmingham community, extending gracious hospitality and Christ-centered care to children and their families. This position carries full responsibility for the administration, operations, finances, personnel, compliance, and growth of the Center, as well as oversight of the parish Nursery, which functions during regularly scheduled liturgical and parish events to enable parents to participate fully in the life of the Church.

Above all, the Director ensures that the Center is an authentically Catholic environment, one in which children encounter the love of Christ, families are drawn more deeply into the life of the parish, and every policy, program, and interaction reflects the teachings of the Catholic Church.

This role is exempt, full-time (40 hours), and eligible for benefits.

Little Lions Early Learning Center Teachers

Current Openings

Infant Room Staff (Morning Shifts- 7am-12:30pm) & (Afternoon Shifts-12:30-6:30pm)
Provide loving care for infants by assisting with feeding, diapering, play, naps, and daily routines in a safe and nurturing classroom.

One-Year-Old Classroom Staff (Morning Shifts- 7am-12:30pm) & (Afternoon Shifts-12:30-6:30pm)
Support the growth and development of one-year-olds through engaging activities, daily care, and positive interactions.

After Care Aide (12:45pm-3:15pm)
Help supervise children during the afternoon with rest time, snack, activities, and transitions.

Extended After Care Aide  (2:45pm-6:30pm)
Create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for children through games, crafts, outdoor play, and dismissal.

Note on Flexible Scheduling: Positions can often be combined to create additional work hours based on your availability and the needs of the center.
